John Doe was pulled over for breaking a traffic law. The police searched his car and opened the stereo console to make sure there were no valuable items inside, which is what their policy says they should do. However, they found 100 grams of fentanyl. Mr. Doe was arrested for drug trafficking.
Attorney Veronica J White argued that this search was illegal and was done without cause. The Court agreed and all the evidence related to the drugs were thrown out. Because of this, the case was dropped (“nolle prossed”) and all charges against John Doe were dropped.
